Job Description

The Principal Application Architect serves as the senior technical authority for software development, application architecture, enterprise integrations, and application modernization. This hands-on role designs, develops, and governs enterprise software solutions while establishing development standards, architectural practices, and technical governance across the application portfolio.

· Serve as technical owner and architecture authority for internally developed and vendor-developed applications.

· Design, develop, test, deploy, and support enterprise applications, integrations, and APIs.

· Establish development standards, architecture standards, source control, code review, and CI/CD practices.

· Review and govern contractor and vendor-developed software solutions.

· Modernize legacy applications and support cloud and hybrid architecture initiatives.

· Design integrations across Microsoft, Workday, Salesforce, and other enterprise platforms.

· Evaluate and implement AI-enabled solutions using approved enterprise AI platforms and governance standards.

· Partner with business and IT stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable technology solutions.

Competencies

· Strong software architecture and application design expertise.

· Deep knowledge of .NET, Azure, SQL Server, APIs, and enterprise integration patterns.

· Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC), DevOps, source control, and CI/CD practices.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to communicate technical concepts to both business and technology stakeholders.

· Strong collaboration skills and commitment to technical excellence.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· May provide technical direction, mentoring, and architectural guidance to developers, contractors, and implementation partners.

· May provide input into hiring, training, and future software engineering organizational development.

Work Environment and Hours

· Work in an office environment

· Monday through Friday

· 40+ hours per week; extended hours may be required during deployments, cutovers, incidents, or critical project milestones.

Travel Required

· Travel to client's locations as needed

· Periodically for project implementations, vendor sessions, stakeholder meetings, training, or operational support as required

Required Education and Experience

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· 10+ years of software development experience.

· Experience serving as a senior engineer, technical lead, application architect, or solution architect.

· Strong experience with C#, .NET, Azure, SQL Server, REST APIs, and enterprise application integration.

· Experience establishing development standards, source control, code review, and CI/CD practices.

· Experience reviewing and governing third-party/vendor-developed software solutions.

Preferred education and experience

· Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

· Microsoft Azure certifications.

· Experience building internal software development capabilities.

· Experience with Power Platform and AI-enabled solutions.

· Experience with cloud-native architecture, microservices, and application modernization.

· Experience in logistics, transportation, environmental services, field services, or related industries.

· Bilingual Spanish preferred.
