Responsibilities:
  • Develop mechanical system designs for HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and other building systems.
  • Engineer and support industrial ammonia refrigeration systems for food processing, cold storage, and other industrial applications.
  • Perform engineering calculations and develop plans, specifications, layouts, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate system requirements and develop solutions that balance performance, safety, efficiency, constructability, and cost.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other construction documents for technical accuracy and design compliance.
  • Partner with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with CAD technicians to turn engineering concepts into accurate, coordinated construction drawings.
  • Provide technical guidance to field teams during installation, startup, and construction activities.
  • Visit project sites to verify existing conditions, evaluate installations, troubleshoot challenges, and support project execution.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable mechanical, building, refrigeration, and safety codes and standards.
  • Assist with project scope development, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and design coordination.
  • Support the sales and estimating teams with technical input, conceptual designs, project quoting, and customer discussions.
  • Identify design challenges early and help develop practical solutions that keep projects moving forward.
  • Perform additional project and engineering responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably supporting construction or design-build projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing or supporting industrial ammonia refrigeration systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience with HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and other mechanical building systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, project coordination, and field operations.
  • Knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, refrigeration standards, building codes, and industry requirements.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, equipment data, and other technical documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work with customers, contractors, engineers, and field personnel.
