A leading manufacturing facility is seeking motivated Machine Operators to support daily production operations. In this role, you operate and monitor production equipment, help maintain a steady production flow, handle materials, package finished products, and perform basic quality checks. You receive hands-on training on facility-specific machinery and processes while contributing to a safe, efficient, and team-oriented environment. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy practical, hands-on work, have strong mechanical aptitude, and are interested in building a long-term career in manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor production machinery in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
  • Learn and follow machine setup, operation, and production procedures specific to each line or product.
  • Assist with equipment changeovers and production adjustments to support efficient workflow.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the production process and perform basic inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • Package finished products accurately and efficiently, following labeling and packaging requirements.
  • Handle and move raw materials and finished goods throughout the facility using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness around equipment and work areas to support a safe and organized environment.
  • Follow production schedules, work instructions, and supervisor directions to meet daily output goals.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks, storage areas, or production lines.
  • Comply with all safety procedures, site policies, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Support production teams as needed to meet operational goals and respond to changing production demands.
  • Use basic power tools and equipment safely as required for production and material handling tasks.
Essential Skills
  • Experience operating, monitoring, or assisting with manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Ability to safely work around industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 65+ pounds repeatedly and perform physical work throughout the shift.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8–10 hours per shift.
  • Experience moving materials and supporting production operations.
  • Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor industrial environments.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Strong attendance and reliability.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Machine operation experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Previous manufacturing or production experience.
  • Forklift experience and interest in obtaining forklift certification.
  • Material handling experience, including moving raw materials and finished goods.
  • Packaging and bagging experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience using power tools safely and effectively.
  • Construction or industrial labor experience.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures.
  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with production staff and supervisors.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial manufacturing setting that includes both indoor and outdoor work areas. You work around production machinery, material handling equipment, and packaging lines while following strict safety and housekeeping standards. The shift runs from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, providing a consistent first-shift schedule. The environment is hands-on and physically active, requiring frequent lifting, standing, walking, and movement of materials throughout the facility. You may use forklifts, power tools, and other industrial equipment as part of daily operations, with appropriate training and safety procedures in place.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Suffolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
