Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to establish and implement process control plans, conduct capability studies, and perform gage repeatability and reproducibility studies. The role involves preparing detailed reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data to make informed recommendations. You will be responsible for developing inspection and work instructions, conducting performance process capability studies, and reading and interpreting assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications. Additionally, you will prepare and submit Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA) as planned. Managing customer and internal complaints, as well as engaging with suppliers, is also a key component of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement process control plans, including capability studies and gage repeatability and reproducibility studies.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Develop inspection and work instructions.
  • Conduct performance process capability studies.
  • Read and interpret assembly and component drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Prepare and submit PPAP packages, ensuring all elements meet customer requirements.
  • Participate in and perform LPAs as per plan.
  • Manage customer and internal complaints, including supplier issues when necessary.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of IATF16949 and manufacturing processes.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 1-5 years of professional experience.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently from general supervision.
  • Experience in Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Familiarity with core tools and problem-solving methodologies such as 8D's.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of staff and management.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Automotive Quality Auditing (IATF) knowledge.
  • Experience with Quality Engineering in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, CAPA, and process control.
  • Experience with PPAPS/APQP.
  • Problem-solving skills and methodologies like 8D.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Northvale, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
