Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Inspector
Location: Wayne, New Jersey
Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday - Friday (7AM-3PM)
Pay Range: $18.50-21.50/hr

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to perform detailed quality and configuration inspections of sophisticated electronic and electro-mechanical products within a precision manufacturing environment.

This position will support the MIDS-JTRS and MIDS programs, inspecting electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, circuit cards, components, and mechanical hardware to ensure conformity with applicable specifications and the most current configuration requirements.

The successful candidate will work from blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, method sheets, process instructions, and engineering change orders, utilizing precision inspection tools and established IPC and J-STD quality standards to identify defects and ensure products meet demanding workmanship requirements.

Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, circuit cards, components, and parts for compliance with specifications, drawings, process requirements, and current configuration standards.
• Examine the layout and installation of wiring, cables, subassemblies, hardware, and components to identify assembly errors, workmanship issues, or configuration discrepancies.
• Perform mechanical inspections using precision tools such as calipers, gauges, microscopes, and other mechanical inspection equipment, and conduct conformal coating inspections using black-light scopes.
• Inspect workmanship against applicable IPC and J-STD requirements, including component orientation, masking, soldering, conformal coating, and related quality criteria.
• Work from specifications, drawings, process instructions, engineering change orders, written instructions, and verbal direction to verify components and assemblies meet required quality standards.
• Identify and document defects, accurately enter inspection findings into applicable systems, and reinspect products following rework, modification, or repair to verify deficiencies have been corrected.
• Interface with engineering and other cross-functional personnel to clarify technical requirements, engineering changes, and resolve inspection or manufacturing issues.
• Maintain a strong commitment to quality and customer requirements while performing effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and follow process instructions, engineering/design drawings, specifications, and related technical documentation used to inspect components, subassemblies, and assemblies.
• Experience utilizing precision inspection equipment and tools such as calipers, microscopes, gauges, and related mechanical hand tools.
• Working knowledge of electronic/electro-mechanical assembly workmanship and quality requirements, including IPC Standards and J-STD requirements.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, document, and communicate manufacturing or assembly defects accurately.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within dynamic, cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to remain composed and quality-focused within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a customer-first approach to achieving objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous inspection experience involving electronic assemblies, circuit cards, wiring, cables, or electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience performing conformal coating inspections using black-light equipment.
• Experience inspecting soldering, component orientation, masking, conformal coating, and other electronic assembly workmanship.
• Familiarity with configuration-controlled manufacturing environments and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
• Experience performing reinspection following product rework, modifications, or repairs.
• Previous experience working directly with engineering personnel to resolve technical or quality issues.
