Mechanical Engineering Project Lead

TRC is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Project Lead to provide technical leadership for the design and development of custom industrial automation equipment. This role will lead mechanical engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring designs meet customer requirements, project schedules, quality standards, and performance objectives.

Job Type: Direct Hire
Travel: Approximately 25% Domestic & International

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering projects from concept, design, and build through final implementation.

  • Define mechanical design concepts and provide technical direction to engineers and designers.

  • Translate customer requirements, budgets, and schedules into actionable project plans.

  • Assign work, establish priorities, and monitor progress to ensure project milestones are achieved.

  • Develop and review mechanical designs for custom automation equipment and manufacturing systems.

  • Collaborate with controls engineers, project managers, technicians, suppliers, and customers.

  • Troubleshoot technical challenges and implement effective solutions.

  • Mentor and support the growth of engineers and designers.

  • Ensure projects meet quality standards and ISO 9001 requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanics, or a related technical field.

  • 10+ years of experience designing industrial automation equipment or manufacturing systems.

  • Strong experience leading mechanical design projects and engineering teams.

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong understanding of automation equipment, custom machinery, and mechanical systems.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% domestically and internationally.
