Job Description

Summer Paid Internship, Full-Time Hours, ON-SITE Winterset, IAAGRILAND FS is a fast-growing energy company delivering diesel, gasoline, propane, and other petroleum products to customers nationwide, with a full agronomy business alongside. Our small technical team builds and runs the ELEVATE application suite and the ATLAS data platform on AWS, and we use AI as a core part of our daily workflow, not an occasional shortcut. We are looking for a builder. Someone who tinkers, ships side projects, breaks things on purpose to see how they work, and already lives in GitHub. You will spend the summer writing real code for real internal applications that real coworkers use every day, with AI pair-programming tools as a force multiplier, not a crutch. What You'll DoBuild and ship features for the ELEVATE application suite: React, HTML, CSS served from S3 and CloudFront, talking to serverless APIsUse AI coding tools as part of a real development workflow: scaffolding, prototyping, debugging, writing tests, and reviewing generated code critically before it mergesWork Git-native from day one: branches, pull requests, code review, and deployment, no zip files emailed aroundTurn rough requirements from business stakeholders into working screens, forms, and reportsTouch the full stack when curiosity strikes: peek at the Python behind the API, the DynamoDB or Postgres table behind the data, and the pipeline that feeds itContribute to a growing library of reusable components and internal documentationDemo your work to the team and to the business users who asked for itWhat We're Looking ForA builder's mindset: personal projects, a GitHub profile with actual commits, a homelab, a Discord bot, a game mod, anything that shows you make things for funFoundational front-end skills: JavaScript, HTML, and CSS (coursework, personal projects, or professional experience all count)GitHub-native habits: you know what a branch, a commit, and a pull request are because you use them, not because you read about themHands-on experience with an AI coding tool such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar, and the judgment to review what it produces rather than accept it blindlyEnough data fundamentals to know what a foreign key is and why it mattersCuriosity about how things work, not just that they workClear communication with technical and non-technical people alikeNice to HaveYou know what a Lambda is, and better yet, you have deployed oneExposure to any AWS serverless services (S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, DynamoDB) or infrastructure as codeExperience with a modern front-end framework (React, Vue, or similar)SQL you have actually run against a real databaseSalesforce exposurePython exposureRequirementsCurrently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, or a self-taught equivalent with the portfolio to prove itMust have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving recordMust pass a criminal and credit background check along with a drug testAbility and willingness to participate in required company training, including IT policies, procedures, and security protocolsWhy This Internship Is DifferentMost internships hand you a sandbox and a slideshow. Here, you will commit to production repos in your first two weeks, ship features that coworkers use the same month, and learn a modern AI-assisted development workflow that most senior developers are still figuring out. And because we build our own applications on open tooling, the skills you leave with are not tied to any one vendor's platform. If you want to find out whether a development career is for you, this is the fastest way to know.AGRILAND FS is an Equal Opportunity Employer
