Job Title: 1st Shift Panel Builder

Job Description

The Panel Builder assembles and wires custom control boxes and automation machinery from start to finish, using electrical schematics as the primary guide. This role involves laying out, drilling, tapping, installing components, and wiring control panels from scratch, while also updating existing drawings to support new or modified machine designs. The Panel Builder ensures all machines are wired to current electrical codes, performs testing and inspection of completed wiring, and manages interface wiring between machines and control panels.

Responsibilities

• Build custom control boxes and control panels from scratch using electrical schematics.
• Lay out panel designs, including component placement, and perform drilling and tapping for mounting hardware.
• Install electrical components and devices in control panels according to design specifications.
• Wire control panels and automation machinery in accordance with current electrical codes and standards.
• Read, interpret, and work directly from electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Modify and mark up existing electrical drawings to accommodate new or revised designs for future machines and projects.
• Perform interface wiring between machines and control panels to ensure proper integration and operation.
• Test and inspect completed wiring and control panels to verify functionality, safety, and compliance.
• Troubleshoot wiring issues and make necessary corrections or improvements.
• Collaborate with team members in the warehouse and assembly environment to support ongoing projects and production needs.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience working with electrical schematics.
• At least 2 years of experience in electrical assembly.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and control panel drawings.
• Hands-on experience with panel building and control panel assembly.
• Strong wiring skills, including layout, routing, and termination of electrical conductors.
• Ability to wire machines and control panels to current electrical codes.
• Capability to modify and update existing electrical drawings to reflect design changes.
• Experience with interface wiring between machines and control panels.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in drilling, tapping, and component installation.
• Ability to test, inspect, and verify proper operation of wired control panels and machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a warehouse or assembly environment.
• Comfort with hands-on mechanical tasks such as drilling, tapping, and mounting components.
• Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting wiring and panel layout issues.
• Ability to work independently as the primary local panel builder while collaborating effectively with a small team.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and documentation, including marked-up drawings.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to electrical standards and best practices.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with some flexibility based on team needs. The workplace is a warehouse and assembly environment, where approximately 18 employees currently work, and this position will serve as the first local panel builder. The setting is hands-on and production-focused, with access to tools and equipment needed for drilling, tapping, wiring, and assembling control panels and machinery.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookfield, WI.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $33.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Brookfield,WI.
