Job Title: Machine Operator / Utility Operator / Extrusion Operator

Job Description

This role supports the production of highquality medical extrusion products by operating and assisting with manufacturing equipment on the production floor. You will work hands-on with machines and tools, support extrusion operations, and perform detailed documentation to help deliver life-saving polymeric solutions for medical devices. The position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy working with their hands and want long-term growth in a clean, stable, and innovative manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing and extrusion equipment safely and efficiently according to established procedures.
• Support utility and extrusion operations, including machine setup, basic adjustments, and assisting operators as needed.
• Perform general production and general labor tasks such as unloading materials, staging product, and maintaining orderly work areas.
• Use hand tools and other basic equipment to perform mechanical tasks and minor adjustments on machinery.
• Follow detailed production instructions and process documentation with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Complete required documentation in English clearly and thoroughly, ensuring production records are accurate and up to date.
• Monitor machine operation, identify basic issues, and escalate problems to extrusion operators or maintenance when necessary.
• Work closely with extrusion operators and the maintenance team to support smooth production flow and minimize downtime.
• Stand and move on the production floor for extended periods while performing repetitive manufacturing tasks.
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and cleanliness standards on the manufacturing floor.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, recognizing that missed shifts directly impact production schedules and output.
• Take initiative to learn new processes, equipment, and procedures to support continuous improvement and personal development.
• Contribute to meeting production goals related to changeover times, scrap reduction, and quality metrics.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude with at least 6 months of experience in mechanical assembly, quality, manufacturing, or machine operating roles for top candidates.
• Demonstrated ability to work with hand tools and perform basic mechanical tasks.
• Experience or strong interest in machine setup, machine operation, and general production work in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8 or more hours per day on the production floor.
• Reliable transportation to consistently arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
• Ability to read and write in English fluently to handle heavy documentation requirements.
• Strong reliability and commitment to attendance, understanding the impact of missed work on production.
• Willingness to take initiative, learn new skills, and adapt to changing processes.
• Comfort working with your hands in a fast-paced, detail-oriented manufacturing setting.
• Capability to follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a machine operator, utility operator, or extrusion operator in a manufacturing environment.
• in general production, unloading, or general labor in industrial or manufacturing settings.
• Prior exposure to medical extrusion products or polymer manufacturing is a plus.
• Interest in long-term career growth from entry-level operator roles into quality, operations, or leadership positions.
• Ability to work day or night shifts on a rotating schedule (A, B, C, or D shift) as assigned.
• Comfort working in a smaller facility where collaboration with extrusion operators and maintenance is frequent.
• Motivation to contribute ideas and participate in continuous improvement programs.

Work Environment

Work takes place on a clean manufacturing floor within a smaller, well-maintained facility focused on medical extrusion products. You will work closely with extrusion operators and the maintenance team, using hand tools and production equipment in a collaborative environment. The company operates multiple structured shifts: A Shift (Utility Operator) runs Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on the day shift from 5:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; B Shift (Utility Operator) runs Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on the day shift from 5:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; C Shift (Utility Operator) runs Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on the night shift from 5:45 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with a shift differential; D Shift (Extrusion Operator) runs Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on the night shift from 5:45 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with a higher shift differential. Team members work 36 hours per week and are paid for 40 hours, reflecting a compressed schedule. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Putnam, CT.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
