Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up and operates a variety of metal fabrication and cutting equipment, including Plasma Arc plate cutters, threaders, hydraulic and manual press brakes, plate rolls, angle rolls, laser cutters, shears, saws, and related machinery. This role works from engineering drawings and work orders to produce high-quality parts within specified tolerances and timeframes, while maintaining accurate documentation and performing routine preventative maintenance on equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates heavy equipment including a Plasma Arc Plate cutter, Laser cutter, Hydraulic/Manual Press Brakes, Plate Roll, Angle Rolls, threaders, and manual shears/saws.
  • Chooses appropriate tools, fixtures, and settings to accurately cut, bend, or roll metals within precise tolerances.
  • Performs routine equipment checks and basic upkeep to ensure fabrication machines remain in safe working order.
  • Documents job details accurately and completes digital scans of fabrication work orders.
  • Maintains a clean workstation compliant with plant standards for hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste disposal.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED).
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of directly related machine operating experience on a manufacturing floor.
  • Strong understanding of the different types, grades, and properties of industrial metals.
  • Ability to accurately calculate figures and measurements using basic mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency using specialized machinery interfaces like Laser/Plasma HMI, Brake Press CNC HMI, and Plate/Angle Roller HMI.
  • Competency operating auxiliary machinery such as cranes, forklifts, and standard power or hand tools.

Physical & Environmental Demands

  • Demands standing on the shop floor for 67% to 100% of an entire daily shift.
  • Frequently requires lifting, moving, or repositioning raw metals and parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently requires walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and rotating the torso.
  • Requires strict adherence to wearing safety glasses, steel-toe boots, targeted hand protection, and hearing/respiratory gear in designated zones

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lynn Haven, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.65 - $22.18/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
