Job description:
Six openings, one posting. Pick your track and tell us which one is yours.
About Mammoth Fieldhouse
Mammoth Fieldhouse is where Southern Illinois comes to get off the bench. Pure Putt. Flight Deck. Pickleball. Battle Bats. A scratch kitchen and a full bar that would draw a crowd on their own. Open play, leagues, tournaments, and private events, all night, every night.
Three rules run our buildings: No Sidelines, No Spectators. Elite Isn't Exclusive. Competition Is Community. Everyone plays, everyone belongs, and a good time beats a good score. We do not shout. We cheer. There is a big difference, and everybody who works here learns it fast.
About the Role
We are hiring six Hospitality Managers, and we are hiring them all at once on purpose.
Every Hospitality Manager runs a department, carries Manager on Duty shifts, and holds the same standard: Unreasonable Hospitality, every athlete, every shift. You will hire your own team, run your own pre-shift, own your own labor line, and cover the other five without being asked.
On a sold-out Saturday nobody should be able to tell where one department ends and the next begins. That is the point. Six managers, one building, one standard.
You will open this place together, which is the rarest thing in this business. Most people inherit a building. You get to build one.
The Six Tracks
Same standard, same seat at the table, six different departments. Apply once and tell us which one is yours.
TRAINING
You build every teammate in the building. Onboarding, certification tracking, the trainer bench, and the refresh cycle that keeps standards from drifting three months after opening.
SERVERS
You own service on the floor. Section design, pacing around a room where athletes are also playing, and the standard at every table on the busiest night of the week.
BAR
You run the bar as a business. Beverage program, pour cost, inventory, and a bartender team that makes every drink the same way, every time, fast.
SUPPORT AND HOSTS
You own the first impression and the reset. The host stand, reservations, waitlist flow, and turn times across bays, courts, cages, and tables.
EVENTS
Sales books it. You throw it. Every private event, corporate buyout, and league night from BEO handoff to closeout, without open play ever suffering for it.
PICKLEBALL AND GAMES
You own programming across Pickleball, Pure Putt, Flight Deck, and Battle Bats. Leagues, tournaments, the master schedule, and the Game Specialist team who officiate it all.
What You'll Own
Whichever track you take, this part is the same.
Your department
- Hire, train, schedule, and develop your team. The bench you build is the job.
- Run your own pre-shift and set the daily focus. Every teammate walks onto the Field knowing the plan.
- Own your labor line against the sales forecast and adjust it live as volume moves.
- Coach in the moment and document it. Praise loud, correct quick, never in front of an athlete.
- Own your department's standards, equipment, and readiness from open to close.
The floor
- Carry Manager on Duty shifts through peak service. This is a floor job, not an office job.
- Own athlete recovery within your authority threshold and escalate cleanly above it.
- Set and enforce the Unreasonable Hospitality standard in your department, every shift.
- We walk athletes where they need to go. We never point. That standard starts with you.
- Keep the building game-ready at all times: clean, energized, and set for the next group.
The building
- Cover the other five. A Hospitality Manager is never responsible for only one department.
- Attend the weekly leadership meeting and the weekly BEO review, and speak up in both.
- Partner across kitchen, bar, facilities, sales, and marketing before anybody has to ask you to.
- Own compliance in your area: health, safety, and responsible alcohol service. Certifications current, always.
- Model the three Playbook Rules. Teammates watch what managers do, not what the poster says.
Your First Year
- First 90 Days: Your department is hired, trained, and executing to a written standard under volume, and you can run a Saturday without help.
- First Year: Athlete scores are climbing, your turnover is below market, and at least one of your teammates is ready to be promoted.
What You Bring
- 2 or more years leading people in hospitality, restaurants, entertainment, or venue operations. 3 or more for the Bar, Servers, Events, and Training tracks.
- Proven ability to lead an hourly team through volume without losing the standard.
- Real depth in at least one of the six tracks, and the curiosity to learn the other five.
- Working command of POS and scheduling systems.
- Composure. This building gets loud and fast, and we need managers who get sharper when it does.
- Willingness to be coached out loud and to coach others the same way.
- A flexible schedule. Nights, weekends, and holidays are the job, not an exception to it.
Certifications
Required, at hire or shortly after:
- BASSET certification. Illinois requires it for anyone who sells alcohol, serves alcohol, or checks IDs, within 120 days of hire. Valid three years.
- CPR and AED certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Our courts mean we keep a trained responder on the floor every hour we are open. Renewed every two years.
- 21 years of age or older.
Required depending on track:
- Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) through an ANSI-ANAB accredited program such as ServSafe Manager, held at hire or earned within 60 days. Required for the Training, Servers, and Events tracks, since Illinois requires a certified manager on site during all operating hours. Valid five years.
A plus if you already have it:
- Trainer level CPR and AED certification so you can certify your own team.
- BASSET trainer credential.
- Allergen awareness training.
- Officiating certification in pickleball or a comparable sport, for the Pickleball and Games track.
We pay for every certification on this list and we give you the paid time to go get it. If you do not have one yet, that is not a reason to skip applying.
Preferred
- Opening team experience. You have turned an empty building into a running one.
- Competitive social entertainment background (golf, bowling, racquet sports, gaming, or similar) alongside traditional restaurants.
- You have promoted someone who is still with the company.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- You are already known and trusted somewhere in Southern Illinois.
Working Conditions
- Extended periods of standing and moving throughout the venue for the duration of a shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Facility has intermittent noise and variable lighting.
- Nights, weekends, and holidays required.
What We Offer
- Base pay of $46,000 to $62,000 annually, depending on track and experience.
- Paid leave under the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act. Up to 40 hours a year, usable after 90 days, for any reason you like. You do not have to tell us why.
- Food, beverage, and gameplay privileges. You work here. You get to play here.
- Every required certification paid for, plus the paid time to go get it.
- A seat in a growing brand. More Fieldhouses are coming, and we promote the people who build them well.
How to Apply
Name the track you want in the first line of your note. If two of them fit you, say both and tell us why.
Then tell us about the best team you have been part of, and what you did to make it that way. No cover letter template. Just tell us something true.
Mammoth Fieldhouse Marion is an equal opportunity employer. We hire on merit, character, and the ability to make people feel like they belong here. Elite isn't exclusive. Everyone plays.
Benefits:
