Customer Service Specialist

Location: Southfield, MI or DeWitt, MI

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire (conversion opportunity after approximately 4 months)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

Work Environment: Fully On-Site

Position Overview

We are seeking Customer Service Specialists to support patients and customers in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is responsible for managing inbound and outbound communications, processing orders, coordinating services, and ensuring customers receive timely support. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, empathetic, and comfortable learning technical products and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer inbound customer calls and respond to emails in a timely manner
  • Make outbound calls to patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders as needed
  • Obtain, review, and verify customer and referral information
  • Create and process orders accurately within company systems
  • Schedule equipment delivery and services based on provider orders
  • Route inquiries to the appropriate departments and resources
  • Follow up with customers to ensure successful resolution of issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while demonstrating empathy and professionalism
Training
  • Comprehensive hands-on training provided
  • Learn healthcare-related equipment, products, processes, and internal systems
  • Training period is approximately one month before working independently
QualificationsRequired
  • 1-3 years of customer service or administrative experience in a healthcare, medical, insurance, or office setting
  • Experience working directly with customers or patients
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new technology, systems, and technical products
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • High level of empathy, patience, and professionalism
Preferred
  • Medical Assistant, CNA, insurance verification, or similar healthcare background
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
  • Insurance experience
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Interest in or pursuit of a healthcare-related degree
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to assist patients into a seated position when necessary
On-Call Requirements (After Permanent Hire)
  • One weeknight on-call shift per month (5:00 PM-9:00 PM)
  • One weekend day on-call shift per month (9:00 AM-9:00 PM)
  • On-call schedule is distributed quarterly
  • Opportunity to trade or pick up additional shifts
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DeWitt, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
