The Process Engineer will analyze, improve, and adjust plastic injection molding processes to maximize cost efficiency, product quality, and throughput. This role focuses on developing and validating processes using Scientific Injection Molding techniques, establishing robust process controls, and ensuring consistent, high-quality output in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate processes for all new injection molds using Scientific Injection Molding techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to establish stable, repeatable, and capable manufacturing processes.
  • Perform start-up, shutdown, and changeovers of injection molding machinery and auxiliary equipment.
  • Conduct mold setups and pull-outs in alignment with production and sampling schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing molding processes to maintain part quality and reduce scrap levels.
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain detailed process documentation, including process sheets and related instructions.
  • Monitor process performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions and enhancements.
  • Lead initiatives to improve cycle time, cavitation efficiency, scrap reduction, and overall processing consistency.
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical support to Mold Setters, Operators, and Engineering staff on molding processes and best practices.
  • Recommend mold and equipment design changes to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Support capital equipment projects by providing technical input on specifications, installation, and startup.
  • Participate in cost-reduction initiatives and cross-functional corrective action teams to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Provide technical support for new tooling qualifications, process validations, and customer trials.
  • Ensure compliance with company Safety, Quality, and Productivity standards in all process engineering activities.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2 years of successful experience in a plastic injection molding engineering role.
  • A minimum of 2 years of prior experience in an injection molding environment.
  • Five years of successful plastic injection molding processing experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Scientific Injection Molding techniques.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in initial process setup and development, tooling, validation, and customer trials.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of plastic processing and manufacturing to maintain consistent quality output.
  • Ability to read and interpret measuring devices and blueprints accurately.
  • Process development and process engineering expertise in injection molding.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and process improvement in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Two-year technical degree or comparable work experience.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and applications is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, and Production.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear training and technical guidance to operations and engineering personnel.
Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility that operates across four shifts, with core hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The site includes 12 injection molding machines and works closely with another process engineer and an assembly engineer on-site. The environment focuses on world-class engineering solutions for advanced composites and engineered resins across multiple industries, including programs for major automotive and heavy truck OEMs. The work setting emphasizes safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement, with access to modern injection molding equipment, auxiliary machinery, and standard office software tools.

This is a Permanent position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
