What You'll Do

As a Civil Engineer, you'll work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors while supporting projects from planning through construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with field activities including drilling oversight, probe and well installation, borehole logging, monitoring, sampling, and well development.
  • Conduct construction quality assurance observations and inspections to verify compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Support preparation and review of engineering calculations, technical reports, design plans, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and clients throughout project execution.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze field and project data for environmental investigations, compliance programs, and engineering studies.
  • Assist with preparing permit applications, agency submittals, and regulatory responses.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and provide support for civil and piping system designs.
  • Participate in field assignments and construction oversight activities that provide valuable real-world project experience.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 3+ months of engineering, internship, or related practical experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCad
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Technical writing and report preparation skills.
  • Basic understanding of piping systems, pipelines, civil infrastructure, water distribution, or wastewater systems.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in both office and field environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Civil 3D.
  • Exposure to landfill gas, natural gas, solid waste, or environmental projects.
  • Water or wastewater engineering experience.
  • Interest in pursuing or obtaining Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) certification.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced consulting environment.
Work Environment

This is a hybrid role offering a balance of office collaboration and hands-on field experience.

  • Approximately 50% office-based and 50% field-based work.
  • In-office presence expected at least once per week.
  • Field assignments may range from day trips to multi-day project support activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and navigate uneven terrain is required.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both technical engineering work and getting into the field to see projects come to life.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
