Job Summary
Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is seeking a detail-oriented Designer Authentication Associate to support our growing e-commerce operation. This role is responsible for evaluating and authenticating designer and luxury merchandise using established authentication tools, resources, and third-party partners.
The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, strong research skills, and an interest in luxury brands, fashion, and resale. In addition to authentication, this position supports product processing, online merchandising, inventory management, and listing preparation to ensure a high-quality customer experience and accurate online marketplace representation.
What You'll Do
- Authenticate designer and luxury merchandise using established authentication partners, tools, and company procedures
- Evaluate products by examining materials, construction, hardware, labels, serial numbers, logos, stitching, and other identifying characteristics
- Research brands and merchandise to support accurate product identification and authentication
- Exercise sound judgment and escalate questionable or high-risk items for additional review
- Maintain accurate authentication records while meeting quality and productivity expectations
- Prepare merchandise for online sale, including inspection, tagging, photography, measurements, descriptions, and categorization
- Support inventory management and product processing activities
- Create accurate product listings and ensure merchandise is represented appropriately
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies, quality concerns, and authentication issues
- Handle merchandise carefully and follow all operational, security, and loss prevention procedures
- Collaborate effectively with team members and leadership to support daily production goals
- Maintain a professional, dependable, and positive attitude while supporting Goodwill's mission
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What We're Looking ForEducation & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 6 months of experience in e-commerce, retail, inventory management, luxury retail, resale, or a related field
- Experience authenticating designer or luxury merchandise preferred
- Basic knowledge of luxury brands, designer merchandise, materials, and construction methods highly desirable
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow established procedures with minimal supervision
- Basic photography skills for product listings
- Computer proficiency and ability to learn e-commerce and inventory management systems
- Strong research and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, and meeting daily productivity goals
Physical Requirements
Medium Physical Demand
- Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds
- Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling merchandise
Travel Requirements
Work Environment
Moderate
- Warehouse and e-commerce production environment
- Exposure to moving equipment and moderate noise levels
