Automation Controls Engineer

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a PLC Programmer job in Stratford, CT. This DIRECT job is available with one of our key customers specializing in liquid mixing and blending systems. To be successful in this role, you should have hands-on experience programming Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, HMIs, and VFD systems, along with a strong understanding of ladder logic, instrumentation, and PID control. You will develop the logic and operator screens used to control systems that pump, meter, mix, and transfer liquid materials between tanks. Experience with electrical schematics, AutoCAD, and electrical cabinet design is a plus and will allow you to support additional controls and electrical engineering activities.

PLC Programmer Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and modify PLC ladder logic and HMI programs used to control pumps, fluid transfers, mixing processes, and related equipment.
• Program and support Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC, HMI, and VFD systems, including troubleshooting and system setup.
• Configure instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure sensors, and temperature sensors and integrate them into control systems.
• Develop and tune PID control loops/blocks to regulate pump flow rates and other process variables.
• Assist with electrical design activities, including VFD power cabinets, PLC/HMI cabinets, electrical schematics, and 2D diagrams.

PLC Programmer Job Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley MicroLogix 800 and 1400 PLCs.
• Experience with Allen Bradley CompactLogix 5380 and similar PLC platforms.
• Experience with Allen Bradley PanelView Plus HMI systems and PowerFlex 523/525 VFD inverters.
• Experience with Siemens S7-300 and S7-1200/1500 PLCs, Siemens ComfortPanel HMIs, and Siemens G120 or similar VFDs.
• Proficiency with AB RSLogix 500/5000 and Siemens TIA Portal.
• Strong understanding of ladder logic, VFD setup, instrumentation, pump controls, and PID programming.
• Ability to read electrical schematics; AutoCAD and electrical engineering experience are a plus.
