Summary

A leading national engineering and design consulting firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a specialized Forensics and Facility Performance team.

This role is focused on existing buildings rather than traditional ground-up design. The engineer will investigate structural conditions, assess existing facilities, identify failures or deficiencies, and develop practical repair, rehabilitation, and restoration solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform forensic structural investigations and existing building evaluations
  • Conduct facility condition assessments and site investigations
  • Evaluate structural failures, deterioration, damage, and complex building conditions
  • Develop repair, rehabilitation, and restoration solutions
  • Support adaptive reuse, renovation, and historic building projects
  • Prepare technical reports, assessments, calculations, and recommendations
  • Design repairs involving steel, concrete, wood, and masonry systems
  • Lead projects from initial investigation through design and implementation
  • Work directly with building owners, clients, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
  • Support client relationships and new project opportunities

Requirements

  • 10+ years of structural engineering / building design consulting experience
  • PE license required
  • Strong experience with existing buildings and structural systems
  • Forensic investigations, facility assessments, rehabilitation, restoration, or structural repair experience
  • Strong technical analysis and report writing skills
  • Experience with steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
  • Strong knowledge of mechanics, materials, load paths, and building codes
  • Project leadership and mentoring experience
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline
