What we’re looking for:
- Skilled in American Sign Language with demonstrated proficiency
- EPIA score of 3.5 or above (required)
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or educational environments preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other interpreters
- Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and promoting equal access to education
Key responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students, staff, and parents during classes and school activities
- Support students’ understanding by accurately conveying classroom instruction, discussions, and social interactions
- Assist in developing communication strategies that ensure student engagement and participation
- Collaborate with educational teams to meet each student’s individual needs
- Maintain accurate records of services provided as required by the educational setting
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities
