Job Title: Entry-Level Machine OperatorJob Description

This entry-level machine operator role focuses on safely operating and maintaining production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will support the production of quality parts by following work instructions and blueprints, performing basic equipment checks, and working closely with your team to meet daily output goals. This position is ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude who is eager to learn, grow, and take on new responsibilities in a modern facility.

Responsibilities
  • Operate manufacturing equipment and machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment to support smooth and continuous operation.
  • Safely operate forklifts to move materials and products as needed, following all safety rules and site protocols.
  • Monitor production processes, identify issues or defects, and report or help resolve problems to maintain product quality.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and tape measures to set up, adjust, and verify machine parameters and part dimensions.
  • Learn to operate screw collation machinery, including setting machine parameters and handling associated tooling and materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, including proper handling of oil and other materials used in production.
  • Follow all company policies and safety procedures at all times, including the use of appropriate protective equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members and support coworkers to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate consistent and punctual attendance and a strong sense of accountability for assigned tasks.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings to guide production work.
  • Hands-on experience using hand tools and basic power tools in a mechanical or production setting.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of tools, machinery, and production equipment.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers to verify dimensions and settings.
  • Forklift experience or a strong willingness to be trained and certified in safe forklift operation.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and strictly following safety protocols and procedures.
  • Dependable work ethic with consistent, punctual attendance and a strong sense of responsibility.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or general production environment is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with assembly or general labor tasks in an industrial setting is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with machine operation, screw collation machinery, and general mechanical work is a plus.
  • Comfort working with mechanical systems, including being mechanically inclined and eager to learn new equipment.
  • Problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail when monitoring processes and inspecting parts.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and take on additional responsibilities within the role.
  • Basic understanding of operating and maintaining equipment in hot, noisy, and non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Interest in long-term development in production, machine operation, or related technical roles.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, newly built manufacturing plant with substantial investment in facilities and equipment. The production floor is hot, noisy, and non-climate-controlled, with oil present from screw machinery, so you should be comfortable working in an industrial setting and wearing appropriate protective attire. You will work around screw collation machinery, general production equipment, forklifts, and various hand and power tools. The facility includes an on-site cafeteria offering full meals and an on-site gym, contributing to a convenient and supportive work environment. Hours and shifts follow typical production schedules, requiring reliability and consistent attendance in a busy, hands-on environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gallatin, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
