A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Shipping Manager to oversee outbound logistics, shipping operations, and warehouse distribution activities. This individual will be responsible for leading a team of approximately 13 employees while ensuring products are shipped accurately, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a hands-on manager who can drive operational excellence, improve shipping performance, and enhance customer satisfaction through strong logistics execution.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping Operations

  • Manage all outbound shipping activities for finished products.
  • Coordinate daily shipment schedules and delivery priorities.
  • Ensure shipments are complete, accurate, and delivered on time.
  • Oversee loading, staging, packaging, and shipment verification processes.
  • Monitor shipping metrics and implement process improvements.

Logistics Management

  • Manage relationships with freight carriers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs).
  • Optimize transportation costs and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with operations and customer-facing teams.
  • Resolve shipping, freight, and delivery issues as needed.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 13 employees.
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability.
  • Conduct employee training, performance reviews, and workforce planning.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Systems & Reporting

  • Utilize ERP and inventory management systems to support shipping operations.
  • Monitor KPIs related to shipping accuracy, on-time delivery, productivity, and logistics costs.
  • Generate operational reports and provide recommendations for improvement.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and best practices.
  • Oversee forklift safety and training requirements.
  • Support DOT and transportation compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of shipping, logistics, warehouse, or distribution leadership experience.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, or distribution environment experience.
  • Experience supervising teams of 10+ employees.
  • Strong understanding of shipping operations and logistics processes.
  • ERP, WMS, or supply chain systems experience.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with 3PL providers and freight carriers.
  • Knowledge of LTL and FTL transportation.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Monday.com, or similar ERP platforms.
  • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma exposure.
  • Experience shipping large finished goods, furniture, cabinetry, building products, or similar products.
