The Building Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance and operational integrity of an industrial facility, serving as a key solo engineer within a small team of 2-5 members. This role requires hands-on expertise in preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and troubleshooting multiple building systems using both Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and manual processes. The engineer will ensure the facility’s systems function efficiently while supporting emergency repairs on an occasional basis.
Responsibilities
- Perform facility maintenance and equipment inspections across industrial building systems
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing issues to minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations
- Implement preventive maintenance activities using CMMS and manual documentation
- Respond to emergency repairs on an occasional, as-needed basis
- Coordinate with vendors to schedule repairs and maintenance services
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
- Monitor building operations and support building security measures
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and facility staff
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in building engineering, preferably within industrial facilities
- OSHA Safety Certification demonstrating knowledge of safety compliance
- Proficiency with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems
- Strong background in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting techniques
- Familiarity with safety standards and vendor management practices
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
