Job Description

Job Description
Control Engineer -Design, code, and commission the systems that keep manufacturing moving

You’ll take industrial automation projects from concept through commissioning, building PLC/HMI control systems that real production lines depend on.

This is hands-on engineering: writing ladder logic and structured text, designing panels in ePlan, implementing safety systems, then owning startup and troubleshooting on the floor.

You’re not just tweaking someone else’s code. You’re architecting full solutions across PLCs, drives, motion, HMIs, SCADA, and data collection.

If you’ve delivered PLC-based automation into a live plant environment, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Work On

You’ll be in the middle of complex, multi-technology automation projects across diverse manufacturing industries:

  • PLC-based machine and line control systems
  • HMIs, SCADA, and custom data collection/information systems
  • VFD and servo motion control for motors and drives
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic control devices
  • Electrical schematics and control panel layouts in ePlan
  • Machine safety systems, risk assessments, and validation
  • Industrial IoT / Industry 4.0–oriented controls solutions
  • On-site commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting

You’ll be working primarily with PLC and HMI platforms from Rockwell Automation and/or Siemens, plus VFDs, servo motion, Ethernet-based networks, and manufacturing information systems such as Ignition or Wonderware.

This is the role where your control logic meets real production, under real deadlines, with your signature on the solution.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing and implementing industrial control systems from requirements through commissioning
  • Performing engineering calculations, programming, and configuration for controls projects
  • Writing ladder logic and structured text PLC programs for pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic devices
  • Programming control for motor starters, VFDs, and servo motion systems
  • Designing and programming HMIs, SCADA systems, and custom data collection/information systems
  • Developing electrical schematics and panel layouts using ePlan
  • Designing and documenting machine safety systems, including risk assessments and validation
  • Creating Sistema reports to verify safety categories and performance levels
  • Writing safety validation plans and compiling validation reports
  • Researching and applying modern technologies in machine/motion control and Industrial IoT/Industry 4.0
  • Commissioning, starting up, and debugging complex controls on the shop floor and at customer sites
  • Troubleshooting issues in the field and driving them to root cause and resolution
What We're Looking For
  • BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer/Software Engineering, or similar discipline
  • At least four (4) years of experience designing, programming, and commissioning PLC systems
  • Hands-on PLC and HMI experience with Rockwell Automation and/or Siemens platforms
  • Strong background with VFDs and motion control systems
  • Experience designing industrial electrical schematics and control panels
  • Exposure to machine safety design, risk assessment, and validation practices
  • Comfort working in manufacturing environments during startup and commissioning
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and own project outcomes
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You’ve already taken multiple automation projects from blank page to production-ready, including PLC code, HMIs, drives, motion, and safety. You’re comfortable on a plant floor during commissioning and enjoy tracking down tough problems with a laptop and meter in hand.

Bonus points if you’ve tied controls into higher-level information systems, used modern SCADA or MES platforms, and worked with industrial networking, vision, and data collection technologies.

Rockwell Automation PLCs • Siemens PLCs • Ladder logic • Structured text • HMIs • SCADA • Ignition • Wonderware • VFDs • Servo motion control • ePlan • Machine safety • Sistema • Ethernet/IP • Industrial IoT • Industry 4.0 • Machine vision • Bar code • RFID

Why This Opportunity?

You’ll join an established automation integrator where controls engineering is the core business, not a support function. Your work directly shapes turnkey systems delivered to manufacturers across multiple industries.

This isn’t a narrowly defined maintenance role; you’ll own design, programming, safety, and commissioning, giving you end-to-end visibility and impact on every project.

You’ll stay sharp by working with modern PLC/HMI platforms, safety tools, and Industrial IoT/Industry 4.0 concepts, continually expanding your technical range in real-world applications.

Important Requirements

Travel is required and is estimated at 20–25%.

Interested?

If you’re ready to own full lifecycle PLC automation projects and see your control systems go live on real production lines, let’s get you in the mix.
