Fiber Laser & Press Brake Machine Operator

Chicago Metalcraft Inc. is seeking a technically skilled and mechanically inclined Fiber Laser & Press Brake Machine Operator to support our fabrication operations.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Location: 885 Schneider Drive, South Elgin, IL 60177

Position Summary

This position is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and operating a 12KW fiber laser, along with material handling, saw cutting, deburring, press brake bending, and related fabrication duties. The ideal candidate is a fast learner with strong mechanical, technical, and computer skills who can work independently with minimal supervision after training.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, troubleshoot, and operate the fiber laser cutting machine
• Handle and stage stock material and laser-cut parts
• Deburr laser-cut parts to meet quality and finish standards
• Perform press brake setup and bending
• Upload and modify cutting drawings and programs using shop computer systems
• Process inventory transactions related to material use and completed parts
• Perform in-process inspections and quality-control checks
• Read and interpret sheet metal fabrication drawings
• Work independently while collaborating with the fabrication team

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills
• Ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly
• Good computer skills
• Ability to read and interpret sheet metal design drawings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Dependable and able to work effectively with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience

• Previous fiber laser operation experience
• Previous press brake operation experience
• Experience with waterjet cutting, drilling, tapping, TIG/MIG welding, or general metal fabrication is a plus
