AsSubstation Engineer Lead, you will be thetechnical authorityfor medium-voltage power distributionowning system reliability, modernization, protection, power quality, and longterm asset strategy across the site. This is a handson, highimpact role for an engineer who wantsreal ownership of largescale electrical systems, not just designs on paper.
What You’ll Own
You will lead theengineering, reliability, and evolutionof mediumvoltage power distribution systemsfrom incoming utility interfaces and substations to protection schemes, SCADA, and plant-wide power quality.
- Medium Voltage System Leadership
- Serve as thesite technical authorityfor MV power distribution, protection, coordination, and power quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex MV system issues impacting plant reliability and safety.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for highimpact electrical failures.
- Asset Strategy & Modernization
- Develop and execute theMV Asset Management Strategyfor the Canton campuses, including:
- Preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Equipment specifications and standards
- Capital planning and system modernization
- MV Equipment upgrades and lifeextension projects to ensure longterm system reliability.
- Troubleshoot and continuous support to all MV power distribution activities ensuring reliability, plan upgrades, improvements, and complete modernization efforts.
- Projects & Capital Execution
- Lead MV power distribution projects fromconcept through commissioning, with capital budgets ranging fromthousands up to $5M.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, contractors, and technical quality.
- Specify, review, and approve MV equipment purchases at the plant level.
- Protection, Safety & Compliance
- Act asplant lead for relay protection and coordination, including creating and modifying relay settings.
- Serve asCorporate Arc Flash Lead, executing arc flash studies and mitigation projects using power system modeling tools.
- Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards (NFPA 70, 70E, 70B, NETA MTS, IEEE).
- Lead annual plant power outage planning and execution.
- Utility & External Coordination
- Coordinate with utilities and regional transmission authorities to ensure reliable incoming power.
- Support electrical safety programs and training across the site.
- Digital & Advanced Systems
- Serve as Corporate Lead for Power Distribution SCADA systems.
- Act as plant power quality lead, investigating disturbances and implementing mitigation solutions.
- Continuous support for plant operations.
