The Project Manager oversees complex industrial projects across multiple U.S. job sites, ensuring that schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client relationships are managed effectively from planning through commissioning and startup. This role focuses on industrial construction, manufacturing, controls, automation, and electrical projects, and requires frequent nationwide travel to lead field execution and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the full lifecycle of industrial construction, manufacturing, controls, automation, and electrical projects from planning through commissioning and startup.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, ensuring on-time delivery across multiple job sites.
  • Create, track, and control project budgets, proactively managing costs, forecasting, and financial performance throughout the project.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, contractors, engineers, and site personnel to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient field execution.
  • Manage client relationships by serving as a primary point of contact, facilitating regular communication, and providing timely project updates and progress reports.
  • Plan and manage project controls, including risk management, change management, and documentation to maintain project scope, quality, and compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and process change orders, ensuring accurate documentation of scope changes and their impact on schedule and budget.
  • Oversee and support electrical and controls design activities, including PLC and SCADA system design, integration, and implementation.
  • Lead or support commissioning and startup activities for controls, automation, and electrical systems, ensuring proper operation and performance.
  • Coordinate EPC and design-build project delivery, aligning engineering, procurement, and construction activities with project objectives.
  • Monitor field execution and power distribution, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with process engineering and operations teams to ensure projects meet performance, reliability, and quality targets.
  • Travel extensively to project sites nationwide to oversee on-site activities, resolve issues, and support project teams during critical phases.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records to support transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience managing industrial construction, manufacturing, controls, automation, or electrical projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and field execution across multiple job sites.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, engineers, and site personnel on complex field projects.
  • Hands-on project management experience in capital projects and industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling and controls using tools such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
  • Experience with commissioning and startup activities for industrial, controls, or electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of EPC and design-build project delivery methods.
  • Understanding of power distribution, process engineering, and field execution in industrial settings.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% nationwide for extended project assignments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in industrial construction, manufacturing, controls, automation, or electrical disciplines.
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA design, integration, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with project controls, including budgeting, scheduling, change orders, and cost tracking.
  • Exposure to design-build and EPC project environments.
  • Experience with commissioning, startup, and field execution of complex industrial systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic field environments and adapt to changing project needs.
  • Comfort working on travel-based, site-focused projects for extended durations.
Work Environment

This position is fully travel-based and requires frequent nationwide trips to active project sites. The typical schedule follows a 10-days-on, 4-days-off rotation, providing concentrated on-site project time followed by dedicated time away from the field. Current work includes a project near Tulsa, Oklahoma, with travel and coordination linked to regional hubs such as St. Louis or Kansas City. The work environment is primarily industrial and field-based, involving close collaboration with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and regular use of project management and scheduling software as well as controls and automation technologies such as PLC and SCADA systems.

This is a Permanent position based out of Chesterfield, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
