Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Risk Manager to support a Milwaukee, Wisconsin organization with strategic oversight of insurance and claims programs. This position focuses on strengthening risk mitigation efforts, guiding benefits-related insurance activities, and ensuring sound administration of workers’ compensation matters. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, vendor management capability, and a deep understanding of insurance coverage, claims handling, and regulatory considerations.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the evaluation and management of organizational risk related to insurance, employee benefits, and workers’ compensation exposure.
• Oversee claim activity from initial reporting through resolution, ensuring timely follow-up, accurate documentation, and effective communication with stakeholders.
• Partner with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to maintain appropriate coverage and service performance.
• Review policies and coverage structures to identify gaps, recommend improvements, and align protection strategies with business needs.
• Monitor workers’ compensation cases and support compliant handling in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory standards.
• Analyze loss trends, claim outcomes, and cost drivers to inform risk reduction strategies and operational decisions.
• Advise leadership on risk-related issues, coverage concerns, and opportunities to strengthen internal controls.
• Support the development and refinement of procedures that improve claim administration and overall insurance program effectiveness.• Demonstrated experience managing insurance programs, claims processes, and risk-related initiatives in a senior-level capacity.
• Strong knowledge of insurance products, carrier relationships, and coverage evaluation practices.
• Hands-on expertise in claim administration, including coordination with internal teams and external providers.
• In-depth understanding of workers’ compensation programs and applicable workers’ compensation law.
• Ability to assess complex issues, interpret policy language, and make sound recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across departments.
• Proven analytical ability with experience reviewing trends, losses, and program performance data.
