About the Role
Quality Tube USA is seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations and production team in Midlothian, Texas. The ideal candidate will have experience in ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) steel pipe manufacturing, steel tube/pipe production, or a closely related metal manufacturing environment.
This is a leadership role for someone who understands the demands of a manufacturing floor and can balance safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, staffing, and customer requirements.
The Production Manager will work closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, HR, and other departments to ensure production goals are consistently met while developing a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily production operations and ensure production schedules and customer requirements are met.
- Supervise, coach, and develop production supervisors, leads, and hourly manufacturing employees.
- Monitor production performance, efficiency, scrap, downtime, quality, and overall productivity.
- Ensure employees follow company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Identify production issues and work with Maintenance and Engineering to minimize downtime.
- Partner with Quality to address defects, customer concerns, and process improvements.
- Manage staffing levels and work with HR on recruiting, training, attendance, performance, and employee relations.
- Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and safety.
- Analyze production data and develop action plans to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Ensure standard operating procedures and work instructions are followed.
- Assist with production planning, scheduling, inventory coordination, and material availability.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment.
- Participate in investigations, corrective actions, and root-cause analysis.
- Communicate production results, challenges, and opportunities to leadership.
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and teamwork.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 5+ years of progressive manufacturing/production leadership experience.
- Experience in steel pipe, steel tube, metal manufacturing, or a similar heavy manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, and shop-floor operations.
- Proven experience leading and developing production teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Highly Preferred:
- ERW pipe/tube manufacturing experience.
- Experience with steel processing, forming, welding, sizing, cutting, finishing, or related pipe/tube operations.
- Experience working with production metrics such as OEE, scrap, downtime, throughput, and yield.
- Lean Manufacturing/continuous improvement experience.
- Experience working with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams.
- Experience in a start-up, expansion, or growing manufacturing facility.
