Job Title: Document Controller / Documentation CoordinatorJob Description

The Document Controller / Documentation Coordinator prepares, organizes, and maintains documentation related to quality assurance and quality control systems. This role supports the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001 standards, performs ISO audits as needed, and leads the conversion of existing quality documentation into a new Quality Management System (QMS). The position combines hands-on document control, data analysis, and close collaboration with the quality department in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain documentation related to quality assurance and quality control systems within the QMS.
  • Create, retrieve, and electronically organize documentation for the QMS system to ensure accuracy, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Collect, review, route for approval, and publish standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), and test procedures.
  • Maintain and update a database for external documentation, including standards and specifications, ensuring that the latest revisions are available and properly controlled.
  • Convert existing quality documentation into the new QMS system, ensuring proper formatting, version control, and alignment with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Create PDF files and other electronic document formats as needed to support quality documentation and distribution.
  • Perform ISO audits as needed, supporting audit planning, documentation review, and follow-up actions.
  • Conduct data analysis on quality key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare clear, concise presentations based on the data.
  • Collaborate with the quality department and other stakeholders to write and update work instructions, SOPs, and other quality documents.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities by ensuring documentation meets internal and external standards.
  • Ensure all documentation activities comply with company health and safety procedures and relevant quality standards.
  • Communicate with manufacturing and other departments as needed to gather information, clarify requirements, and resolve documentation-related questions.
Essential Skills
  • At least 4 years of experience working with ISO 9001 and ISO standards.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working in a quality department, supporting quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), including document creation, organization, and control.
  • Proficiency in writing and maintaining work instructions, SOPs, and test procedures.
  • Strong document control experience, including version control, approvals, and electronic filing.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and ISO 9001 requirements as they relate to documentation and quality systems.
  • Proficiency with Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to perform data analysis on quality KPIs and develop clear presentations from the findings.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and reviewing documentation.
  • Ability to understand and follow company health and safety procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience converting existing documentation into a new QMS platform.
  • Experience performing or supporting ISO audits.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control methodologies in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple documents and tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with quality, manufacturing, and other departments.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with quality and compliance requirements.
Work Environment

The role is based in an office environment within a manufacturing facility and involves working closely with one other manager. The position primarily operates in the office, focusing on electronic document management and data analysis, with occasional visits to the shop floor as needed to gather information or ask questions. The work involves regular use of computers, office productivity software such as Excel, and QMS tools for document control and data reporting. The environment follows established health and safety procedures, and the role supports a structured, quality-focused culture.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sugar Land, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
