Role Summary:

The Senior Network Engineerat Perfectais responsible formaintainingthe design and integrity of the corporate enterprisenetwork,which also includescustomer and programenclaves.Responsible for engineering, monitoring, and evolvinga networkbetween two satellite officesandthe network hublocatedin a data center in northern Virginia, as well as data centers around the globe.Your network will meetcorporateobjectivesandthe demands ofcustomers by dynamicdesign, configuration,monitoring,and maintenance ofthe network andnetwork devices. Must be able toimplement,monitor, andmaintainanMPLS-basedCAN,as wellasWAN circuits.Must be able to learn and work with non-industry standard hardware, such as firewalls, and be ableregisterpublic domains and set up routingfor them. You willprovidetechnicalassistanceto team membersfor networked equipment supporting our customers’ missions. You will make recommendations for network improvements, including cost estimates, and will mentorat least one junior network administrator with whom you will be working.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to manage anMPLS-based network and understand how to bond multiple WAN connections toprovidefault-tolerance.

  • Work closely withthe Director of IT and other senior management to advise onnetwork aspects of in-house developed hardware,use ofthird-partynetworkelements,advisecustomerson networktopics, andwork withsecurity team members to design, deploy, and managesecurenetworks (LAN,CAN,WLAN, WAN)

  • Configure and install network devicesand services: firewalls, routers, switches, VPN, load balancer,WAN.

  • Teach, coach, and guidejuniornetwork engineer(s)

  • Proactivelymonitornetwork performance and integrity, and troubleshoot network-related issues, including DNS

  • Create, oversee, and routinely test security measures,includingauthentication and disaster recoverymeasures.

  • Communicate withendusers whennecessary.

  • Maintain completeand comprehensivetechnicaldocumentation of the network and customer networkconfigurations.

  • Must be adept at creating and updating network topology diagrams using MS Visio

  • Continually recommendimprovements toenhancenetwork performance,capacity, reliability,and scalabilitywhile constantly looking for ways to lower costs

  • Install networksand equipmentin OCONUS locations as directed bytheprojectPM.

  • Working knowledgeofandproficiencywith network hardware, such asCisco,Cisco Meraki,Dellswitches,NetgateFirewalls, Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti.

  • Expertknowledge andproficiencywith networking concepts: IP management,LAN/CAN/WANdesign,networkmaintenance& monitoring, troubleshooting

  • Comfortable with deploying changesto production environmentstominimize downtimeand risk offailure.

  • Possesses detailed knowledge andis familiarwithnetworkand routing protocols:MPLS, TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, VPNs.

  • Working knowledge andproficiencywith common network and Linux-based operating systems.

  • Familiar with access control models and network security.
