Job Title: C-Shift Slitter Operator

Job Description

The Slitter Operator sets up and operates slitting equipment to convert film and related materials according to production specifications. This role involves reading and interpreting bills of materials and diagrams, performing precise machine set-ups and changeovers, threading film, setting blades to the correct width, and programming the machine for length, speed, and tension. The operator ensures products meet quality standards through regular inspections and then removes finished product from the machine, stacks it in containers, and prepares it for shipping.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret bills of materials and diagrams to understand job specifications and set-up requirements.
  • Perform machine set-ups and changeovers, including adjusting components and tooling for each production run.
  • Thread film into the slitter machine safely and correctly to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
  • Set blades to the proper width based on product specifications and verify measurements using precise instruments.
  • Program the machine for correct length, speed, and tension using HMI (Human-Machine Interface) touch screens.
  • Monitor machine performance during operation and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Perform basic machine troubleshooting to identify and resolve minor mechanical or operational issues.
  • Use precise measuring instruments such as calipers and durometers to verify dimensions and material characteristics.
  • Conduct quality control checks and inspections to ensure products meet required standards and customer specifications.
  • Remove finished product from the machine, stack materials in containers, and prepare them for transfer to shipping.
  • Use hand tools and mechanical skills to adjust and maintain equipment as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility guidelines.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, contributing to a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent effort, and a positive attitude to support production goals.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to communicate issues, share information, and support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

  • Experience as a machine operator or in a manufacturing environment preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including comfort working with machines, tools, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to use precise measuring instruments such as calipers and durometers.
  • Basic math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and verify dimensions.
  • Experience or understanding of quality checks and inspection processes.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate set-ups, measurements, and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and understand diagrams and related production documentation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, or twist as needed to troubleshoot and work on machinery.
  • Comfort using touch screen computers and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens for machine programming and adjustments.
  • Basic machine troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve common operational issues.
  • Proven reliability and strong attendance record.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous slitter machine, conversion machine, or roll forming experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience in automotive or other mechanically focused work environments is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with slitter operation, machine operation, or related production equipment.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and basic mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Experience with quality-focused manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints or similar technical documentation is an advantage.
  • Comfort working with production and quality systems in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed to provide a comfortable working environment. The dress code requires steel-toe boots, blue jeans or Cintas pants without holes, and a solid-colored shirt; shorts are also permitted as long as they meet safety and dress guidelines. You will work with slitter machines and related production equipment, using HMI touch screens, measuring instruments such as calipers and durometers, and various hand tools. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and quality, with a focus on maintaining a tidy workspace and following established procedures throughout the shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hebron, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
