Job Description

This Software Tools Developer role sits within a Software Updates Test Automation and Tools Development team, building software solutions that enable automated testing of automotive infotainment, connectivity, and related vehicle technologies. You will design, develop, and maintain automation tools, frameworks, and test infrastructure that increase test efficiency, coverage, and reliability while collaborating closely with development and manual test teams in an Agile Scrum environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software tools and automation features that support automated testing, following established engineering best practices.
  • Design, develop, and maintain test libraries that interface with electronic control units (ECUs), test management systems, and defect tracking systems.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts that convert manual test cases into automated tests.
  • Create and maintain automation configurations and execution pipelines for test collateral and tools.
  • Collaborate with development teams and manual test teams to understand testing requirements and implement the required tools and test scripts.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure software quality, identify regressions, and maintain alignment with team coding standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing tools, frameworks, and processes, and propose innovative approaches to unresolved testing challenges.
  • Contribute to team deliverables by actively participating in Agile Scrum development sprints and related ceremonies.
  • Support the ongoing transition to higher levels of automation within the testing organization by enhancing and scaling existing solutions.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in object-oriented analysis and design, including multithreading, algorithms, and data structures.
  • 2+ years of experience in Python development; relevant coursework and/or research may be considered.
  • Proficiency in developing automated testing solutions / framworks using Python.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to creatively and effectively identify root causes of issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and environments such as PyTest, unit testing frameworks, or Slash.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux command-line environments, including batch and shell scripting.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Groovy, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with test case management systems such as TestRail.
  • Experience with defect tracking systems such as Jira.
  • Experience with source code management tools such as GitHub.
  • Experience working with embedded operating systems, such as QNX or Linux.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-site team environment and contribute in a self-driven, self-motivated manner.
  • Experience with web application development frameworks such as Django.
  • Experience with automated GUI testing tools such as Squish.
  • Experience with database querying and administration using SQL.
  • Interest in or experience with automotive infotainment, connectivity, or related vehicle technologies.
  • Motivation to learn from mentors and grow within a rapidly expanding automation-focused team.

Work Environment

This role supports a team focused on testing automotive infotainment systems within an office environment that includes multiple labs. The position follows a hybrid schedule, enabling close collaboration with engineers and access to test equipment and lab resources. You will work with a range of software tools, automation frameworks, ECUs, test management and defect tracking systems, and CI/CD infrastructure in a structured yet growth-oriented environment where the automation team is expected to expand significantly in the coming years, offering strong opportunities for mentorship and professional development.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sunrise, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
