A well-established, growth-oriented, project-based company operating across multiple states is adding a Project Finance Manager reporting to the CFO. This is a confidential search. Company details are shared with qualified candidates after an initial conversation.
The Role
This seat owns project financial performance from setup through closeout. You run the monthly WIP review with project managers, determine percentage of completion by service line, lock forecasts, and defend the numbers to auditors. You are the primary finance contact for operations, which means sitting with PMs and executives and pushing back when a forecast does not hold up.
What You Will Do
- Own the monthly WIP review and percentage-of-completion determinations by service line
- Lock cost-to-complete forecasts and recognize revenue off them under ASC 606
- Serve as the finance lead with external auditors on WIP substantive testing
- Manage deferred and unbilled revenue across active projects
- Set job cost baselines with operations and estimating, and track budgets and forecast-to-actual
- Monitor AP and AR aging on active projects and drive resolution with PMs
- Account for both time-and-materials and fixed-price contracts
- Partner with project managers and executive stakeholders as the finance voice on project performance
Who This Fits
- 4 to 10 years in project finance, project accounting, or project controls at a mid-size or larger project-based business
- Hands-on WIP, POC, and job cost experience where you made the call, not just posted the entries
- Working knowledge of ASC 606 applied to over/under billing and unbilled revenue
- Experience as the finance point person with auditors on WIP testing
- Advanced Excel
- PSA or project accounting software experience. Sage and ADP are a plus
- Construction, engineering, restoration, or another field-based, project-driven industry is a strong plus
- Able to influence project managers and executives who do not report to you
