About the Role

Join a high-complexity clinical laboratory dedicated to supporting newborn screening programs and improving patient outcomes. As a Clinical Lab Analyst, you will perform specialized testing on newborn blood spot specimens using advanced laboratory technologies that help identify potentially life-threatening conditions in newborns.

This role offers hands-on experience with sophisticated clinical laboratory instrumentation and methodologies while working in a collaborative environment focused on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory testing on newborn blood spot specimens using a variety of methodologies, including:
    • Immunoassays
    • Enzyme assays
    • Electrophoresis
    • High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
    • Tandem Mass Spectrometry (MS/MS)
    • Molecular testing methods
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Review, analyze, document, and verify test results to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Investigate and resolve assay, instrumentation, and workflow issues.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support timely and accurate reporting of patient results.
  • Rotate through multiple testing areas to develop broad technical expertise.
  • Participate in ongoing training, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work within a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Effective troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous laboratory experience in a clinical, research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated laboratory setting.
  • Experience with molecular testing, HPLC, mass spectrometry, immunoassays, or related laboratory techniques.
  • Familiarity with quality control, quality assurance, and laboratory documentation practices.
  • Experience working with laboratory instrumentation and data analysis software.
Schedule
  • Overnight Shift: 9:30 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Rotating schedule: 5 days on, 4 days off
  • Includes weekends and holidays as needed
  • Initial training is typically conducted on a daytime schedule before transitioning to overnight hours

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ankeny, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
