About GEZFLC
The Gainesville Empowerment Zone Family Learning Center (GEZFLC), operated by Gainesville for All, Inc., provides high-quality early childhood education and family support for children from six weeks through age five.
We are seeking a dependable, organized, and hardworking
Part-Time Kitchen Assistant to support our food-service program and help provide nutritious meals and snacks in a clean and safe environment.
Position Summary
The Kitchen Assistant will assist with preparing, portioning, serving, and cleaning up meals and snacks for children.
This position requires someone who takes cleanliness and food safety seriously, works efficiently, follows directions, and understands the importance of accurate meal preparation in a childcare environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
- Portion food according to established serving requirements.
- Prepare and organize classroom meal carts and supplies.
- Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and food-service equipment.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces and food-preparation areas.
- Maintain an organized and sanitary kitchen.
- Properly store and label food.
- Assist with receiving and organizing food deliveries.
- Monitor food supplies and communicate when items are running low.
- Follow food-safety and sanitation procedures.
- Follow CACFP meal-pattern and portion requirements as directed.
- Follow procedures related to food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Complete required kitchen and meal-service documentation as assigned.
- Assist with maintaining kitchen inventory.
- Remove trash and maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and food-storage areas.
- Follow GEZFLC, DCF, CACFP, and applicable food-safety requirements.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous kitchen, food-service, childcare, school, restaurant, or institutional food-service experience preferred.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Must be comfortable working around young children.
- Must be willing to complete required background screening and training.
- Must understand the importance of food allergies, sanitation, and preventing cross-contamination.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform normal kitchen duties, including lifting and carrying food and supplies.
