Job Description

The Welder plays a critical role in supporting project execution by producing high-quality welds that meet company, customer, and industry standards. This position contributes to operational success through safe work practices, efficient production, and maintaining the integrity and durability of welded components and structures. Essential Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements and plan work activities.
  • Measure, cut, and prepare materials according to project specifications and welding procedures.
  • Select the appropriate welding equipment, processes, and materials based on job requirements.
  • Set up and align components for welding, ensuring proper fit, positioning, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Operate angle grinders and other fabrication tools to prepare surfaces, remove imperfections, and finish welded products.
  • Perform welding using manual and semi-automatic equipment in various positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, safe, and operational condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable industry standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, fabricators, and team members to meet production schedules and quality objectives.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven experience operating a variety of welding equipment and performing welding processes, including TIG, MIG, Stick (SMAW/MMA), and other applicable methods.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Experience using electrical and manual fabrication tools, including grinders, saws, squares, calipers, and measuring devices.
  • Working knowledge of welding techniques, metal properties, and fabrication practices.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety requirements and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, face shields, gloves, and protective clothing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing or construction setting.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift materials, and perform welding activities for extended periods.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, productive, and professional work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Welding certification(s) from AWS or other recognized organizations.
  • Previous experience in structural steel, industrial, manufacturing, utility, or construction environments.
  • Experience with welding inspections and quality control procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and industrial environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work safely around welding equipment and fabrication machinery.
