Sustaining MechanicalEngineer(permanent position)Raleigh, NC
Our clientis seekinga Sustaining Mechanical Engineer, Level IIwhoseprimary function and purposewill be to support product design and development.In this role, youwill also support prototyping, testing,and operational improvements as required.
This is apermanentpositionworkingon-siteinour client’s North Raleigh, NCoffice.The base salary starts at $95,000, with a higher starting rate or growth potential depending on your experience.The role offersa competitive base salaryandgreat benefits.Candidates must reside in the Raleigh-Durham metro area to fulfill the schedule needs of the role, but non-local candidates willing to relocateat their own expensemay be considered.Novisa sponsorshipor subcontracting arrangements.
Essential Functions
• Supportresearch anddevelopment team in architecting, designing, developing, and sustaining mechanical hardware (including molded parts, connectors, cabling, and various other electromechanical components).
• Support BOM management, ECNs, drawing management,and product design specifications.
• Assist indesign-leveltesting, simulation, and failure analysis – this may involve familiarity with environmental chambers, vibration tables, and 6-sigma toolsets for analysis of data.
• Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations,and Vendors to ensure customer requirements are continually satisfied.
• Support and evaluate changes to existing products to improve quality.
• Support industry certifications and regulatory compliance efforts.
• Demonstrate accountability and technical expertise to bring structured processes to supporton-timedelivery.
• Demonstrate the necessary skills to thrive in a collaborative work environment.
• Ability to influence, collaborate,and negotiate with all departmentswithin the companyand to the external market.

Required Education & Experience
• Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• 1-4 years minimum experience in mechanical design, product development,or equipment development
• 6-sigma and other certifications considered a plus.
• Strong knowledge of SolidWorks drawing/modeling/simulation tools –ProE, Fusion360 or other equivalent packages may be considered.
• Highly proficient with mechanical enclosure design for electronic circuit boards and other key components.
• Broad knowledge of common mechanical part fabrication processes such as Injection Molding & Tooling, Low pressure Molding, Casting, 3D printing, Stamping/Forming,
• Ability to demonstrate statistical tools in problem solving (6-sigma design methodology, GD&T, FMEA etc.).
• Knowledge of development tools, product testing practices, fabrication processes
• Ability to use and/or interpret results from simulation software packages such asMoldFlowor SolidWorks Plastics.
• Ability to interpret a set of written requirements and realize the specifications required to deliver the finished product.
• Familiarity with FDM, SLA, SLS,and other 3D printing techniques to iterate product design.
• Candidate must be detail-oriented and support building jigs, fixtures,and other equipment used in operations.
•Proficient in product lifecycle management (PLM), including engineering BOM structures, configuration control of engineering drawings, and the design and evaluation of complex components and mechanical assemblies.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize project tasks with limited oversight to execute project tasks efficiently.
