We are looking for a Controller to lead core accounting and financial operations for a manufacturing organization near Paw Paw, Michigan. This position works closely with executive leadership to deliver accurate reporting, strengthen financial oversight, and support planning decisions that drive long-term business performance. The role also serves as a key partner to management by translating financial data into practical recommendations and maintaining a strong compliance framework.

Responsibilities:

• Direct daily accounting and finance activities, ensuring financial records are accurate, timely, and aligned with company objectives.

• Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax documents and statutory reports while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations.

• Coordinate month-end closing activities, review supporting schedules, and analyze operating results to confirm the integrity of reported balances.

• Partner with external advisors to assemble documentation needed for annual financial statements and income tax reporting.

• Maintain oversight of fixed asset accounting and ensure asset records remain complete, current, and properly supported.

• Lead inventory count processes across multiple locations and reconcile results to financial records as needed.

• Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff to support team performance and continuous improvement.

• Contribute to the annual budgeting process and provide financial input that supports operational and strategic planning.

• Support administration of financial records related to employee retirement plans, including accurate maintenance of relevant documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• At least 5 years of experience in a financial leadership or accounting management role.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising or leading direct reports.

• Background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

• Working knowledge of sales tax reporting and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Strong financial reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to present recommendations clearly to stakeholders at different levels.

• Experience with accounting systems such as Sage Fixed Assets and Microsoft Dynamics General Ledger is highly valued.
