Maintenance Supervisor
Location: Adient Manufacturing Facility
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 12:00 AM)
Job Summary
Adient is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for overseeing daily maintenance activities, driving equipment reliability, supporting production objectives, and ensuring a safe and efficient workplace.
The Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team of skilled maintenance technicians, coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities, and partner closely with Engineering, Operations, and Plant Leadership to maximize equipment uptime and continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for developing people, improving processes, and promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance employees in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Provide direction, training, performance feedback, and ongoing development opportunities to maintenance personnel.
- Manage employee performance, attendance, scheduling, and workforce planning in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the maintenance organization.
Equipment Reliability & Production Support
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities to ensure production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Establish and adjust maintenance priorities to support changing production requirements and minimize downtime.
- Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve operational performance and equipment reliability.
- Support troubleshooting efforts and partner with technicians to resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Create and assign work orders, prioritize maintenance activities, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Monitor and analyze equipment downtime metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provide support to production, maintenance staff, and engineering teams as needed, including off-shift and after-hours support.
Preventive Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and sustain Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives across the facility.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate site preparation and maintenance support for new equipment installations and production launches.
- Create and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for new and existing equipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, maintenance processes, and overall plant efficiency.
Project & Contractor Management
- Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to support capital projects and equipment upgrades.
- Coordinate activities with external contractors and vendors to ensure work is completed safely and effectively.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with plant safety and operational requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a culture of safety by actively participating in safety meetings, audits, observations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with Adient safety standards, environmental requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support Safe Workplace, Environmental, and Sustainability objectives across the facility.
- Participate in safety and ergonomic committees, safety Kaizen events, audits, and workplace observations.
- Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
- Lead root cause analysis efforts utilizing methodologies such as 5 Why and 8D problem solving and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
- Enforce safe work practices and ensure team compliance with all plant safety procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous maintenance leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability initiatives in a production setting.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems and maintenance planning.
- Experience leading teams and coordinating maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with maintenance-related reporting, work order systems, and production downtime analysis.
- Must be available to work 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 12:00 AM) and provide support as business needs require.
Preferred
- Automotive manufacturing experience.
- Experience implementing or leading TPM initiatives.
- Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment, robotics, and industrial systems.
