General Manager – Oilfield Equipment Rentals
Location: Midland, TX
Industry: Oilfield Services / Flowback Equipment Rentals
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead and grow an oilfield equipment rental operation serving the Permian Basin. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring customer work is executed successfully while building the people, processes, customer relationships, and sales pipeline needed to grow the business.
The ideal candidate understands oilfield operations and equipment rentals, is comfortable working directly with operators and service companies, and has the entrepreneurial mindset to take ownership of a growing operation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day operations for the Midland-area equipment rental business, with a primary focus on flowback and production-related equipment.
Coordinate incoming customer work, equipment availability, scheduling, delivery, setup, pickup, maintenance, and field support.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained, inspected, tracked, and ready for deployment.
Build operational processes that improve equipment utilization, responsiveness, safety, and profitability.
Recruit, develop, and manage field and operations personnel as the company grows.
Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and ensure a high level of service and execution.
Actively develop new business throughout the Permian Basin by building relationships with operators, flowback companies, completion companies, consultants, and other oilfield customers.
Identify opportunities to expand the rental fleet based on customer demand and market opportunities.
Develop pricing recommendations, monitor job profitability, control operating expenses, and help establish financial and performance targets.
Track key business metrics including revenue, equipment utilization, customer activity, operating costs, and profitability.
Work directly with ownership to establish growth priorities and execute the company's business strategy.
Promote a strong culture of accountability, safety, responsiveness, and customer service.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in oilfield services, equipment rentals, flowback, completions, production, or a related field.
Previous operations, branch, district, or general management experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of oilfield equipment and field operations; direct experience with flowback equipment rentals is highly preferred.
Established knowledge of the Permian Basin / West Texas oilfield market.
Proven ability to manage people, equipment, customers, and multiple jobs simultaneously.
Commercial mindset with the ability to develop customer relationships and generate new business.
Strong understanding of operational costs, equipment utilization, margins, and profitability.
Comfortable operating in a growing company where processes and infrastructure are still being developed.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
What We're Looking For
This position is best suited for someone who wants to run and build a business, not simply manage an existing operation. We are looking for a leader who can take ownership of the Midland operation, execute the work already coming in, develop a strong team and operating structure, and create new opportunities for growth throughout the Permian Basin.
The right person will be equally comfortable in the field, sitting across the table from a customer, managing a team, and reviewing the numbers behind the business.
