Location: Kings Bay, GA

Pay Rate + Per Diem

Job Description
Insight Global is seeking highly skilled Shipfitters to work onsite in Kings Bay, GA to perform the following tasks:

  • Remove, alter, repair, and install ship structures, including framing, metal deck plating and grating, and hull fittings such as davits, fairleads, chocks, scuttles, sockets, and deck rails.
  • Template, layout, and fabricate structural components and fittings, including bulkheads, equipment foundations, hangers, ladders, stanchions, brows, accommodation ladders, and guards.
  • Remove and install corrosion-prevention components, including zinc anodes.
  • Perform metalworking operations such as punching, drilling, reaming, tapping, and template cutting.
  • Fit up and prepare materials for welding, including chipping, nibbling, beveling, hand grinding, and surface cleaning.
  • Excavate pits or defects in ship structures, including pressure hulls and frames.
  • Perform post-weld cleaning of structural repair areas.
  • Remove and reinstall tank access covers in support of related shipboard work.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ yrs recent, relevant experience on submarines or naval or commercial ship repair experience, or equivalent experience in a heavy industrial environment performing the Typical Trade Task identified.
  • Security Clearance: Must be eligible for or hold an active security clearance (due to defense -
    related work).
  • Trained and qualified to wear respiratory protection devices
  • Proficient at removing, altering, repairing, and installing ship’s structure.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the following skills: manufacture templates, layout and fabricate structures and fittings including bulkheads, equipment foundations, hangers, ladders, and stanchions; fit-up and make ready for welding, including chipping, beveling, hand-grinding and cleaning of surfaces to be welded.
  • Proficient at performing post-weld clean-up of ship’s structural repair areas and removal/reinstall of tank access covers in support of other work.
  • Trained and qualified to wear safety harnesses and work from scaffolds/platforms where drop off will be greater than 5 feet

    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift at least 50+ lbs,
    • Be able to climb ladders and maneuver within small spaces inside submarines


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Certifications: OSHA 10 (active), Confined Space (IG to provide candidates)
