Production Supervisor
Shift: 3rd Shift | 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM
Location: Adient Manufacturing Facility
Position Summary
Adient is seeking a motivated and hands-on Production Supervisor to lead and develop a manufacturing team in a fast-paced automotive production environment. This position plays a critical role in driving safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement while ensuring customer requirements and production goals are consistently achieved.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations for an assigned production area or manufacturing line, providing leadership to hourly team members, and partnering with cross-functional departments to drive operational excellence. This role requires someone who thrives on the production floor, can effectively motivate teams, solve problems in real time, and create a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Employee Development
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
- Foster a positive and engaged work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct employee training, performance coaching, and development activities to build a highly skilled workforce.
- Provide onboarding and orientation for new team members while ensuring successful integration into the production team.
- Address performance, attendance, and behavioral concerns in accordance with company policies and applicable labor agreements.
- Recognize and promote employee achievements while maintaining high performance expectations.
Production & Operations Management
- Direct and coordinate daily production activities to ensure customer schedules and production requirements are met.
- Monitor production processes, staffing levels, and equipment utilization to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Review production schedules, work orders, and customer requirements to effectively plan shift operations.
- Establish priorities, allocate resources, and adjust schedules as necessary to meet changing business demands.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Materials, and HR teams to resolve production challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, and process optimization.
Quality & Customer Focus
- Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with quality standards and customer specifications.
- Monitor production output and quality metrics, addressing concerns before they impact customers.
- Lead problem-solving efforts related to quality issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Promote a culture of quality and accountability throughout the production team.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety observations, audits, and discussions to reinforce safe work practices.
- Investigate and address safety concerns while promoting proactive risk identification.
- Ensure all housekeeping and workplace organization standards are maintained.
- Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and encourage employee participation.
Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities
- Review production reports, downtime information, efficiency metrics, and workforce data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Compile, analyze, and communicate operational performance results to plant leadership.
- Develop, implement, and update standard operating procedures as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a manufacturing, automotive, or production environment.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence principles.
- Knowledge of production scheduling, workforce planning, quality systems, and safety requirements.
- Experience leading hourly employees in a fast-paced production setting.
- Strong communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to interpret production schedules, reports, operating procedures, and work instructions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems preferred.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work 3rd Shift (6:30 PM - 6:00 AM).
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and additional hours as business needs require.
- Ability to spend extended periods on the production floor.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, and move throughout a manufacturing facility during the shift.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
