Job Title: Designer/Drafter - New Product DevelopmentJob Description

As a Designer/Drafter on the New Product Development team, you will play a key role in converting initial concepts into fully realized product designs. This position works closely with engineers and cross-functional team members to bring new products from idea to production. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to create accurate, well-organized documentation that aligns with industry standards and internal requirements. Your work will directly contribute to product performance, manufacturability, and overall project success.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Lead Project Engineer and team members to turn product requirements into prototype and pilot designs.
  • Utilize 3D CAD software such as PTC Creo to develop digital models that support faster development cycles.
  • Create detailed 3D models and drawings based on concepts, sketches, or legacy designs, with a focus on manufacturability.
  • Design sheet metal components using 2D and 3D tools while ensuring proper tolerances are achieved.
  • Recommend efficient assembly and fabrication methods, optimizing designs for cost and production feasibility.
  • Support technical and design reviews by presenting or assisting in the presentation of design models, ensuring alignment with internal processes.
  • Prepare complete documentation packages for release to manufacturing, including drawings, bills of materials, and machine files.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in developing and creating new products, preferably in the electrical-mechanical products space.
  • Proficiency in design, 3D modeling, CAD, and Creo.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, new product development, and SolidWorks.
  • Experience with voltage, switchgear, and electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Ability to interpret engineering sketches and technical specifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Creo/Windchill.
  • Proficiency in both 2D and 3D modeling software.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
Work Environment

The work environment includes a recently opened office located near the manufacturing facility. You will be working on a team with over 20 engineers. Approximately 90% of your day will be spent at a desk, with the remaining 10% on the manufacturing floor. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team and company, with projects averaging from 6 months to 2 years, focusing on highly customizable load banks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seven Hills, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
