Elm is a family-owned and operated business with a welcoming, safe, and employee-oriented environment. We are a high-production metal finisher providing Zinc barrel plating, heat treating, dip spin coating, sorting/packaging, and anodizing services.
Primary Function:
Responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across local routes. Ensures cargo is delivered on time, adheres to traffic laws, and maintains the vehicle in good working condition.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial vehicles (e.g., tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers) to transport cargo to designated locations.
- Ensure timely deliveries.
- Follow all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations (e.g., DOT regulations).
- Maintain proper documentation, including logs, bills of lading, and delivery receipts.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any issues.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured with load locks to prevent damage during transit.
- Check cargo for accuracy and verify delivery details.
- Report mechanical issues to the appropriate personnel or mechanic.
- Communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, and other team members.
- Address customer concerns or questions regarding deliveries.
- Maintain accurate driving logs as per Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
- Submit fuel receipts, and other daily required paperwork.
- Required to comply with all work, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
- May be required to perform other duties at the direction of the Logistics Manager.
Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience driving semi-trucks and/or cargo vans.
- Must maintain a valid CDL.
- Must maintain a valid medical certification.
- Must have strong understanding of road safety and traffic laws.
- Ability to operate GPS and other navigation tools.
- Good time-management and organizational skills.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Cleared to work by the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
- Position requires successful completion of HazMat endorsement for CDL.
- Attention to detail and quality a must.
- Maintain safe work environment.
- Maintain housekeeping.
