Job Title: Machine OperatorJob Description

As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for aligning and securing materials on the laser cutting table, loading and interpreting CAD files or other design inputs into the machine’s control interface, adjusting machine settings such as power, speed, and focus based on material type and thickness, and operating the machine to cut or engrave as per the design, ensuring accuracy and precision.

Responsibilities
  • Align and secure materials on the laser cutting table.
  • Load and interpret CAD files into the machine’s control interface.
  • Adjust machine settings based on material type and thickness.
  • Operate the machine to cut or engrave designs with accuracy.
  • Regularly inspect components to verify dimensions and quality standards.
  • Make machine adjustments to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Conduct daily checks to ensure optimal working condition of the laser cutter.
  • Clean the machine, including laser lens and nozzle, to prevent build-up.
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance tasks like lens replacement.
  • Ensure laser safety barrier or enclosure is intact and functional.
  • Monitor fume extraction system for proper ventilation and filtration.
  • Track material usage to minimize waste.
  • Handle materials carefully to prevent damage or warping.
  • Keep logs of completed jobs, including deviations or issues.
  • Document maintenance activities and significant machine downtimes.
  • Troubleshoot minor machine issues or operational errors.
  • Adjust parameters based on material properties to achieve desired results.
Essential Skills
  • Machine operation and understanding of CNC processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Proficiency in operating overhead cranes, tape measure, caliper, basic hand tools, and air tools.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move various weights up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Experience in forklift operation.
  • Exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Over two years’ experience operating CO2 or Fiber CNC laser-cutting machines.
  • Experience with Cincinnati or Mitsubishi laser-cutting machines preferred.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, climate-controlled, brand new facility with a small team on the 3rd shift, working from 11:00 pm to 7:30 am, Sunday to Thursday.

This is a Contract position based out of Vandalia, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
