Job Description

This position offers the opportunity to work as a Machine Operator in a dynamic manufacturing facility, performing a mix of machine operation and production support tasks. You will operate manufacturing equipment, handle materials, assist with railcar loading and unloading, and support general labor activities across the plant. The role suits individuals who are flexible, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment while contributing to safe and efficient production operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing equipment safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established production standards.
• Load materials into machines and monitor equipment to support continuous production processes.
• Assist with railcar loading and unloading activities to ensure timely and accurate material movement.
• Perform general labor tasks throughout the facility, including production support, housekeeping, and material handling.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following housekeeping and safety guidelines.
• Follow all safety protocols, production procedures, and standard operating instructions.
• Support overall production operations by moving materials, staging supplies, and assisting where needed.
• Demonstrate initiative by identifying operational needs and stepping in to help team members without constant direction.
• Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to meet production goals and address issues as they arise.
• Adapt to varying duties and changing priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Essential Skills

• Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred, particularly in industrial or high-volume environments.
• Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and maintain consistent production standards.
• Comfortable performing physical labor throughout a 10.5-hour shift, including standing, lifting, and material handling.
• Ability to work flexible start times on assigned day or night shifts as business needs require.
• Capability to follow safety protocols, production procedures, and written or verbal instructions.
• Strong work ethic with a reliable, dependable approach to attendance and performance.
• Team-first mentality with a willingness to support coworkers and contribute to shared goals.
• Experience with railcar loading and unloading activities is highly beneficial.
• manufacturing, industrial production, or related environments is preferred.

• Flexibility to work rotating day or night schedules and varying start times.

• Proven ability to take initiative, work independently when needed, and assist in different areas of the facility.
• Comfort working in a hands-on industrial environment with multiple concurrent tasks.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, VA, with a hands-on industrial setting that involves machine operation, material movement, and general labor tasks. Employees work 10.5-hour shifts on either days or nights. The day shift rotates between 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM and 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, while the night shift rotates between 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM and 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, requiring comfort with physical work, adherence to safety protocols, and consistent attention to cleanliness and organization throughout the facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
