Job Title: Junior Software Test & Quality EngineerJob Description

This role focuses on supporting the development and execution of quality assurance activities to ensure that products and software meet performance, reliability, and user expectations. The Junior Software Test & Quality Engineer works closely with engineering and product teams to assist with manual testing, product testing, defect tracking, process improvement initiatives, and test automation projects. The position offers exposure to embedded systems, connected devices, and software quality best practices while contributing to the creation and implementation of a comprehensive QA strategy and roadmap.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive QA strategy and roadmap that aligns with overall business goals and objectives.
  • Perform manual software testing and product testing to verify functionality, performance, and reliability of products and software.
  • Apply statistical methods such as Design of Experiments, standard deviation, and Cpk to assess and improve product and process quality.
  • Assist in driving test automation initiatives to increase testing efficiency and reduce manual testing efforts using appropriate tools and technologies.
  • Contribute to the establishment and tracking of key quality metrics and performance indicators, and assist in reporting these metrics to leadership to support continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization within QA and testing workflows and help implement best practices and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, product management, and customer support, to ensure a holistic approach to product quality.
  • Support oversight of offshore QA teams by helping ensure adherence to quality standards, processes, and effective communication.
  • Assist in ensuring products meet relevant regulatory and compliance standards where applicable.
  • Participate in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive firmware test scenarios, test cases, and test plans.
  • Help manage test environments and contribute to the creation or improvement of CI/CD pipelines to optimize test automation capabilities.
  • Document defects, track their resolution, and communicate testing results clearly to engineering and product teams.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience with manual software testing, including test execution, defect identification, and documentation.
  • Experience with product testing to validate performance, functionality, and reliability.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or C for test scripting or automation support.
  • Ability to apply basic statistical concepts such as Design of Experiments, standard deviation, and Cpk in a quality context.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable software and products.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering and product management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting test cases, test results, and defects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Exposure to test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and power supplies in a testing environment.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW for test automation or data acquisition.
  • Experience writing clear, concise, and comprehensive firmware test scenarios, test cases, and test plans.
  • Experience managing test environments and creating or maintaining CI/CD pipelines to enhance test automation capabilities.
  • Interest in working with cutting-edge technology and large utility customers.
  • Motivation to contribute to process improvement and continuous quality enhancement.
Work Environment

The role is based in a growing organization of over 150 individuals and offers a hybrid work model, allowing two days offsite per week once the employee is fully ramped up. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.65/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
