In this role, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and project leaders to create high-quality substation designs using cutting-edge tools such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation. What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain detailed CAD drawings for electrical substation projects.
  • Create new drawings and revise existing design documents throughout all project phases.
  • Utilize Autodesk Inventor and other CAD platforms to support substation layout and modeling efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to understand design objectives and project requirements.
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with company CAD standards, industry requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and project milestones.
  • Resolve drafting and design challenges by partnering with engineering teams and technical leadership.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and contribute to schedule planning and technical discussions.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to gather field data and verify existing conditions.
  • Maintain organized drawing packages, models, and project documentation.
  • Support a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in ongoing training opportunities to stay current with industry technologies and best practices.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor with hands-on drafting and modeling experience.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Background supporting substation, power, utility, transmission & distribution, industrial power, or EPC projects.
  • Understanding of substation layouts, electrical equipment, and associated design documentation.
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing projects.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Revit and/or MicroStation.
  • Expertise in substation equipment layouts, transformer arrangements, and power system drawings.
  • Familiarity with transmission and distribution infrastructure and utility design practices.
  • Experience working with specialized Inventor modeling programs and advanced 3D design tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex design challenges.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and expand technical capabilities within the power engineering industry.

Work Environment

This position begins as an on-site role to support collaboration, mentorship, and hands-on training. During the initial onboarding period, employees should expect to work in the office up to five days per week. Following successful integration and training, the role transitions to a hybrid work arrangement.

You'll work in a professional engineering environment alongside project managers, engineers, and technical specialists while utilizing industry-leading tools including Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation. The culture emphasizes teamwork, innovation, safety, and continuous learning.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46000.00 - $65000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
