REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Senior Engineer: 5+ years of directly related experience.
- Staff Engineer: 8+ years of directly related experience.
- A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year toward the qualifications.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Strong understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power systems, the power grid, and the electric transmission system.
- Strong understanding of power system modeling.
- Understanding of protection principles and practices for transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation equipment.
- Experience using power system analysis and modeling tools such as PSS/E, ASPEN, PSCAD, RSCAD, RTDS, PowerWorld, DSATools, PowerGem's TARA, MATLAB, MAXWELL 3D, and SYNERGI.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and identifying best-practice opportunities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain NERC certifications.
- Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs)

Insight Global's client, a leading regulated utility and owner/operator of transmission, distribution, and generation assets, is seeking a Senior or Staff Engineer to join its Electric Transmission Planning & Strategic Initiatives team. This engineer will play a key role in evaluating and implementing advanced technologies that support transmission planning, grid reliability, renewable energy integration, and long-term system growth. The position will provide technical expertise related to Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs), Grid-Forming (GFM) and Grid-Following (GFL) inverter controls, FACTS devices, and HVDC technologies, while performing power system modeling, load flow, dynamic, transient, electromagnetic, and real-time digital simulation studies. This individual will collaborate with internal engineering teams, inverter manufacturers, vendors, and OEMs to analyze emerging technologies, support large-scale renewable energy projects, address increasing data center load growth, and develop innovative solutions that enhance grid stability, reliability, and overall system performance.
