Automotive Electronics Resident Engineer (Customer Liaison)

Location: Northville, Michigan | Contract: Approximately 1 year | Onsite: 100% | Shift: Day Shift | Pay: $26.25–$30.00 per hour

Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM (occasional weekends as projects demand)

A day in the life

By 8:00 AM you’re settling in at our customer’s Northville facility, the on-site, trusted voice of our engineering organization. Your morning begins with a quick review of PRTS items to shape the day’s prioritiesclosing out resolved issues, flagging risks, and prepping concise, audience-ready updates. A mid-morning stand-up with customer stakeholders follows, where you align program timelines, highlight testing milestones, and ensure expectations are crystal clear.

After lunch, you dive into validationsupporting hardware testing, probing signals, and confirming that our automotive electronics meet quality thresholds. You toggle between CAN and LIN analyses, using tools like CANoe and vFlash to verify communications and flashes. When a design change is needed, you author and shepherd an ECR through to completion, keeping documentation tight and teams informed. Before you wrap at 6:00 PM, you log progress in MS Project and Excel, closing the loop with internal engineering so the next day starts two steps ahead. Weekend work pops up occasionallyusually when a critical milestone demands a push.

  • Customer ambassador: Be the on-site technical face of our team and deliver a high-touch, consultative experience.
  • Program leadership: Drive timelines, track milestones, and proactively mitigate technical risk across a fast-moving program.
  • Stakeholder communication: Lead meetings and presentations with clear, proactive project updates.
  • Cross-functional bridge: Translate customer needs into actionable engineering deliverables.
  • Issue tracking (PRTS): Own end-to-end management of technical issues through closure.
  • Change management (ECR): Draft, manage, and process engineering changes for hardware/system updates.
  • Testing & validation: Support electronics testing and troubleshooting across production processes.
  • Network analysis: Validate CAN/LIN communications using industry-standard diagnostic tools.
What you bring
  • Foundational experience in industrial automation and basic electronics.
  • Hands-on TPM background: timeline execution, risk management, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Practical knowledge of CAN and LIN networks; proficiency with CANoe and vFlash.
  • Fluency in production processes, hardware testing cycles, ECR workflows, and PRTS management.
  • Comfort with MS Project and Excel for tracking, documentation, and reporting.
