Position Overview
Reporting directly to the President, the Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations across a portfolio of affordable housing development entities and corporate operations. This individual will manage financial reporting, project accounting, construction draws, cash management, audits, investor reporting, and tax credit compliance while helping build and scale the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and cash flow reporting.
- Manage construction draw requests, lender funding packages, and project budgets.
- Track capital contributions, partnership accounting, and investor reporting.
- Coordinate audits, tax return preparation, and cost certifications.
- Monitor project and corporate cash management activities.
- Maintain accounting systems, internal controls, and reporting processes.
- Mentor and supervise accounting staff as the team grows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience within real estate, affordable housing, development, or partnership accounting.
- CPA or CPA-track preferred.
- Experience with construction accounting, multi-entity structures, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of LIHTC, affordable housing programs, and project financing structures is highly preferred.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI, Sage, or similar platforms.
